Verde Alpi marble, bronze, LED lighting
Sculptural centerpiece with integrated lighting and wall console.
For centuries, the fireplace stood at the heart of the home — a place of warmth, gathering, and quiet presence.
Today, fireplaces often remain only as decorative architectural remnants.
With The Non-Fireplace, Jimmy Delatour reinterprets this archetypal domestic element through a contemporary sculptural gesture. The work preserves the symbolic role of the hearth while removing the very element that once defined it: fire.
Carved from a monolithic block of Verde Alpi marble, the piece frames an inverted bronze dome concealing a warm, indirect LED light. Adjustable in intensity and color temperature, the illumination can also produce a subtle animated movement, evoking the slow flicker of flames.
Composed solely of marble, bronze, and light, the work transforms the traditional fireplace into a luminous presence — a meditation on the enduring symbolism of the hearth within contemporary domestic space.
A wall-mounted console extends the composition into the surrounding architecture, creating a quiet plane where personal artefacts may enter into dialogue with the piece.
With The Non-Fireplace, Delatour proposes a contemporary hearth — a sculptural presence inviting stillness, contemplation, and gathering.
